Is the information in the following text correct?
There can be a lot of different meanings for a single English word. Apart from its literal meaning it can have different figurative meanings, i.e. metaphorical and allegorical.

It may be just a matter of terminology choice, but I suppose that you could also include symbolic and euphuistic.  That's all that comes to mind offhand.

Not really, because a good dictionary includes all the meanings, literal and figurative.  'Literal' is a little hard to define because there are so many different kinds of words, but the literal meaning is the basic or primary meaning, the simplest or most obvious meaning.
