Are all of the bolded words interchangeable in the above and pretty much the same in meaning? Thanks.

Hi,

Preceding means 'happening or coming before the time, place, or part mentioned', so it must not be right.
I am not quite sure about before! I incline to group it with preceeding.

Hi,
