Hi,
I'd like to know what tenses can be used with "these days".

  1. These days I practice a little more.
  2. These days I've practiced a little more.
  3. These days I'm practicing a little more.
  4. These days I will practice a little more.
  5. These days I will be practicing a little more.
I was told that it's good only with the present simple and it's not even good with the present continuous, but I think it's ok with the present continuous (#3), isn't it?
Thanks. Smile [:)]

Hi,

I'd like to know what tenses can be used with "these days".

Hi,

It's a pretty flexible phrase that you can use in a lot of ways in a lot of different contexts, so I wouldn't want to say that any of these tenses are totally 100% impossible. However, #1 and #3 are certainly the most, most common. #3 is fine, no problem at all.

Best wishes, Clive

Yes, there's a sentence like #3 in Swan's grammar too, maybe I should have checked before posting...
Thank you. Smile [:)]

Actually, I like the continuous forms better, and with these days at the end.

I've been practicing a little more these days.
I'm practicing a little more these days.
I'll be practicing a little more these days.

Those are my favorites, in order, most favorite first.  Smile [:)]

Thanks a lot, I think those two in particular could be useful to me on some occasions. Yes [Y]
