Hello Anon

If you can't remember the word for an object, you can call it a "thingy ma-jig".

It's quite a mild term. If you want to present yourself as a hard-nosed, assertive, no-nonsense, business-like kind of person, you might do well to avoid it.

I've always heard it as "thing-a-ma-jig"  not thingy...  -  "a thingy"   can be used on it's own, and is even more coloquial (less formal) than thing-a-ma-jig.

Hi guys,

Or you can call it a thing-a-ma-bob. Or a what's-it. Or a doohickey.

Best wishes, Clive

(Round here, "doodah" is used for a different kind of thing-a-ma-jig.)
