Hi guys,
I just finished an translation of one episode of the BBC show called "Cooked". It's a very interesting show from the England where one UK cook named Justin travels arounds the world and discovers different cultures. Most of all he focuses on their cooking traditions. In the episode, which I was working on, he choosed Mozambique.
Can you please help me with the situations, where I'm not sure about the meaning? Okay, here we go.
1) As the crow flies and the boat speeds, it’s
only 50km from Vilanculos to Bazaruto, 2hrs on the boat (??? That interpunction confuses me here, is the speaker saying that the duration of the path to that Island is 2 hours and the length of the path is 50Km if you go there straight way (as the crow flies, very nice idiom!)????) but travel in any form
is not without it’s issues. I’m still not sure if it was water in the
fuel line or some other gremlin but it was quickly sorted out and we were back
on our way.
2) Context: Justin is sitting at the bar and enjoying his drink of pina-colada. He said:
Jasus(UK way of saying Geez???..:-), just all the liberties that get taken here. “Drinking pina-colada…” Only thing is this thing will cost me about $15, I’ll be bankrupt and I’ll have to finance my cooking show on my credit card now. (???? I'm not sure about the meaning here, is he saying here that 15$ is too much and it'd ruin the budget of his show, so he'll pay that drink via his credit card????)….(He tasted that drink) But guys, it's worth it.
3) This situation is from the last part of the show. Justin and his friends are heading to the beach to admire the sunset.... Justin said: Getting that, like, all silhouette must be bloody beautiful hey.(????? I checked the video he really said these words???).
thank you guys in advance for your help!!!! And enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Best Regards
JCD
