Hi,

If you'll permit me to say so, this sounds like your homework.Smile [:)]

Can you perhaps state your thoughts on this first?

Oh, no, not my homeworkSurprise [:O]
I am sincerely interested in people's thoughts on this topic.
Actually, I want to understand how to be a leader, as sometimes I feel I need to be more assertive, to take the lead.I also wonder rwhether everyonee can be a leader, whether it is crucial for everyone to be on top or some people feel content with an average, not leading position.

Personally, I suppose everyone subconsciously to be a leader but sometomes they lack necessary qualities. That makes many people suffer. So, everyone can be a leader but what they need frequently is to change themselves for the better. And qualities are:
1.Assertiveness
2.Some kind of charm
3.Confidence
4.Communicational skills
5.Lack of fear for everything, that is to encourage others not to fear as well
6.Keeping calm and confident in crisis

There are some maxims that you have written down I like. I think the first step is to get a good education. One has to know how to think to go further.

Hi, BW2/3!

Well, really, one has to have a good education, but largely it depends on the character of a person whether he or she will be able to use their knowledge. Also, some people think that those who are studying very hard aren't up to real life, immersed in their books and so on, so they won't make good leaders.

I'm sure that the thing we can all be agreed on is that not each person can be a leader, and it depends on what kind of leader you want to be and where to be positioned. For example; you can be a leader of a football team, you can be a leader of company, of syndicate, of protesting mass, a leader of religious community, a leader of political party, a leader of ***...So, as we can conclude, what kind of leader you want to be depends on what kind of job/activity you pursue. There are few features that determine some person as an potential leader, I'm not able to rank them on their importance, since I think all those features are equally relevant and important.

-experience, knowledge, skills ( also posessing skills depends on job or activity you're in - football leader/capitain must be good in passing the ball, in organising a game, shooting and kicking ball towards goal, a leader of political party must know how to activate his members, colleagues, he must know how to inspire huge mass of people, to think about political goals and how to gather as much followers as he can..etc...), straight reasoning, innovation, intelligence, good comunicational skills - doesn't always be related to each kind of leadership. I'm sure there are plenty of other features which have to be fulfilled - depending on type of activity, job...

Sincere leader must posess certain qualities related to the description of a job he works on. You can't rule political party if you are musician and have no real education about political sciences and enough knowledge and experience in ruling people arround you. All in all, leader must be complete personality, and somebudy who has confidence of people arround him, who has been chosen from group of people or someone who's been chosen from a person who's got a kind of higher importance, or authority.

Further more, leader must always be ready for crytics, and must be flexibile and willing to accept other people's, colleagues's, teammate's opinions and always be ready to listen others. Leader must be democratic and versatile, moral and honest - he must be compatible.

This would be summary of my thoughts concerning leadership and leader.

To become a leader, at first you need to have a group of people who will follow you Wink But I think that the most important is charisma of the person. I know many non-educated, bad-looking and evil leaders, who were nevertheless able to persuade the crowd to follow them.

I think unfortunately in order to be a leader you'll have to get used to sacrificing many things you like and even love.

I agree. To me, charisma seems to be the clue in this matter. Wink
