We saw some poor people who had lost their arms or legs because of/to the bombs.

Which sounds better here, because of or to? Is it possible that both fit? Thanks.

Hi,

We saw some poor people who had lost their arms or legs because of/to the bombs.

Both are correct. However, 'to' is more formal, more literary, and less common.

Best wishes, Clive
