Hi,

I just wondering whether it is better to use 'to date' instead of 'until now' in "He hasn't got any chocolates on Valentine's to date".

Thanks in advance.

Hello VC

1. He hasn't been given chocolates on Valentine's Day to date.

2. He hasn't been given chocolates on Valentine's Day until now.

#1 implies that he's never been given chocolates on V's Day.

#2 implies that he's just received chocolates on V's Day for the first time.

If anyone out there is planning ahead, by the way, I prefer not to be given chocolates on Valentine's Day. Some Scotch would be most welcome, though.

(Just thought I'd make that clear.)
