Do you agree or disagree with the following statement

Living in a big city has greater advantages than living in a small town or in the country

     People who disagree with this statement generally say that small towns and the country are less polluted, quieter; moreover people know each other better. On the other hand, people who think that big cities have more advantages say that they have a more intense cultural life, a better higher education, and there are more diverse people.

      First of all, small towns and the country are usually less polluted since there is a little car traffic there. For instance, the roads in the countryside are much quieter than the streets in big cities. Smog and noise can be harmful to people, that is the reason why small town may more pleasant. Moreover, there are less people in small towns; therefore they often know each other better. As a result, people from the countryside often say that it is more difficult for them to meet friends in big cities.

     However, people who prefer big cities usually say that they have a more intense cultural life. For instance there are more theaters, or movies theaters, which play a greater number of movies. Moreover, a lot of people think that big cities have a better higher education system: that is the reason why in France a lot of students go to Paris to attend the universities there after they have completed their high school degree. Finally, there are much more diverse people in big cities. For instance, someone can meet persons from different countries in a city like Paris, whereas one may get bored in small town because one may often see the same people.

       Although, living in the country seems to be less harmful, living in a big city has more advantages like a great number of movies theaters, good universities, and a lot of different people.
