TOEIC/ Photo Question

(A) The conference is well attended.
(B) The man is using a pointer.
(C) The woman is sitting down.
(D) The people are sitting at a desk.

The answer key says item (C) is the correct answer corresponded to the photo above. I wonder why (D) cannot also be a good answer? Is that because they are not sitting at a desk? A table maybe? Please advise.

Not a particularly good question but yes, it is not a desk (which is normally for one person only), but a table.

Thanks, I have another question about "sitting down"

Could "She is sitting down." mean the person is in the "middle" of sitting? Not completely sitting down there yet? Please advise.

 Yes, the sentence could well mean that (though the picture does not reflect that action).
