Hi,

1.'He and I don't talk much.'

2.'He and I began to talk soon after we met each other.'

Could 'speak' be used instead of 'talk' here?

Could 'started' be used instead of 'began' here?

Thanks

Hi Clive,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Should we use 'talk' or 'speak'  in the case?

"Could you please talk/speak louder?"

"Please talk/speak slowly."

Thanks

You can say either, although here I  prefer 'speak'.

'Talk' focuses more on 'giving information'.

'Speak' focuses more on the act of 'making words come out of your mouth'.

Hi Clive,

Thank you very much for your explanation. Is 'speak' more common to use in the case?

Thanks
