Hi,

Can you please clarify me these two slang phrases?

a) ..but once that bed is made, you know.

Detectives are questioning a man. They wants to know the details about the life of the missing woman. He said:

I'm talking about her lifestyle. Tried to go clean for the baby. But once that bed is made... you know.

Please did he say: "Once you tried the drugs, it's hard to get a rid of this habit?" Or what does it mean? I have never heard this phrase before...:-((

b) ...But I knew you were lying low.

Please if someone is "lying low" , what is he doing?

Situation: Two men met each other on the road. First one said : "People said you were dead, but I knew you were lying low".

Please did he say that he was faking the dead?

thank you in advance for your help!

regards

Hi,

If that "once that bed is made" refers to the saying "You've made your bed and now you must lie in it",  then it means that one has to accept / deal with the consequences of what s/he has done.
However, I've not seen that TV show, so I might be on the wrong track.  Sad

As for "lying low", here's what Cambridge dictionaries say:
lie low [informal]
to try not to be noticed:
I'd lie low if I were you till the trouble passes

A man can do only what he can do. But if he does that each day he can sleep at night and do it again the next day. (A. Schweitzer)
