As I have read in many places what I know about West Africa is that the climatic conditions and the geographical location of the country makes a big hindrance to the nations developement activites.

Most of West Africa's problems are polititcal. Climate etc is good and, for one example of natural resources, Nigeria is an extremely oil-rich country. Much productive land, poor governments.

Can I also give some facts about under developed and developing countries?

developed country:
-the most people work in the service sector
-the mobility is big
-there are schools and "high" job qualification
-there are many offers on products and this products are every time aviable
-in the agriculture machines do the work

developing country:
-the most people work in the agriculture
-the people haven't got any vote chance (I hope that I can say it so)
-many people can't read
-the most of them die before they are 40 / 50 years old
-the activity isn't very high
-they are poor and they haven't got any thing to eat (not much to eat)
-the population "goes" up very fast (I would say: the population is big / great (which word?))

So I hope you understood my artice and when you would some information about why the developing countries are developing countries then I try it also to write...

I'm afraid that sounds too much like a "1st-World" definition of the "3rd-World".
At least, I'd say that those characteristics may be general but each particular case is different from the other.

Spinnaker,
I would not completely agree with the facts about developing and Developed country.
Yes , ofcourse in most cases they are true, but there are a lot many exceptions, for exmaple countries where all the features of Developed countries is present , however still there is financial imparity between the people or may be the per capita income is much lower than expected. In both cases these countries are Developing countries, still they have all the characters or features of Developed country.

To define the words like Developing or Developed is really tough, because these words are relative, subjective to the comparision with economy of other nations.

i think the words development and underdevelopment are all english words.it is left for whomever that invoked it to realise what usage it is meant for.underdeveloped countries are made so by someone who made this word english.so let the british and the americans tell us why they should continue to make africa and part of asia underdeveloped forever by deciding who will lead them and causing conflicts to sell weapons and their amunition for destruction.if they become sincere to everybody these words will cease to exist then the world will be better than it is today.

Hi
My facts are typical for this two countries sections but they are not "general true". I want to say with this, that this facts are normal, typical but that it gives also developing countries in which all is "good" but they can not boost the econnomy...
I don't say that only this facts existing... it gives also so many others factors.

I hope I have written clear, otherwise say it!

Hi everybody.
I'm sorry about my english. Let's see if practising here I'll be able to improve it.

The underdeveloped countries are classified in such way based historically in two elements: income and "human development". There is a Human Development Index made by UN, and updated regularly.
For example, some arab countries with a high income from petroleum are not developed according to UN. In the order hand, coutries like Cuba - with a high human development index - are not considered developed because of his low income.
One point: the development concept is very european-centred (I'm includind there not only Europe, but also its extensions: USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) because UN's way of thinking is european.

The facts that spinnaker gave us about the developing countries (the politically correct term for the underdeveloped countries) is not up to date anymore. The features of development are sprawl in a lot of developing countries (even very low-income countries like Cambodia, Nepal or Nigeria). Nevertheless, the gap between rich and poor (and the features of under development like hunger, extreme poverty, low expectancy of life, illiteracy, etc) didn't change or are even higher.

In the other hand, economic inequality is not a feature of underdevelopment (according to UN's "european-centred" concept). Countries as USA or Great Britain have a gap between rich and poor much higher than Mauritania or Tadjikistan. However, the poor people of USA and Great Britain have more difused access to minimum stardants of life.

I'm waiting your feedback in order to proceed the debate.
