He's been generous with my own rather uneven education.

--- Does it mean he's been generous to me despite the fact that I wasn't quite well educated?

 I would have to have more of the writing to understand the meaning of "generous" in this context. An "uneven education" means that the education was deep and thorough in some subjects and lacking or superficial in others.
