        I am a medical resident from india. Due to intense work pressure & family problems I need to take a break & applying for a unpaid leave ( extra ordinary leave ) of two and half months. Kindly rectify it ............... Thanks

If the place where you works uses extra ordinary instead of extraordinary, you should keep extra ordinary.

I am in the US and people here talk about taking a leave. If that usage isn't common where you are, I think you should use whatever term will be easiest to understand.

re: 1.10.2006    In many places, as you know, this means October 1, 2006. In a few places, including the US, it means January 10, 2006.Smile [:)]  October 1, in the US, is 10.1.2006 or 10/1/2006. (I don't know where you are, so I thought I should mention this.)

Also, I'm wondering if you would be more likely to get the extraordinary leave if you gave more details about your situation.

If extraordinary leave isn't always unpaid, it might be a good idea to add that information to the body of your letter. 

Other people may have other suggestions.
