Hi, I have been working the last 3 nights on my letter now and would really appreciate any comments on it. I only have about 10 hours left then I will send it to the University.
Btw. do I have to write "English" with a capital E?

Dear Madam or Sir,
I am writing to apply for the Bachelor’s programme in International Business at the University ABC in September 2007.
When I first heard about the international business programme in May 2006, it caught my attention straight away. This environment with its international atmosphere is exactly what I am looking for.
I have always found the business and especially the financial world to be intriguing. Moreover my mother taught me to accept and appreciate all the different aspects of different cultures and people. Therefore I highly value the international flavour at the University ABC.
Furthermore, the city of ABC with its huge cultural and historical background looks to me as a great place to live and study for the next three years. The impression of both University and city itself that I got when visiting the open day was beyond my expectations.
In addition to this, I love the idea of living in the tri-border region Belgium-Netherlands-Germany as it offers me great opportunities and I have the chance to speak and practice three different languages constantly in everyday situations and on top of that have the chance to learn Dutch as a fourth language.
Even more important for me though, is the possibility to study in a multicultural classroom and interesting surrounding with a high academic challenge and a great student community.
In my opinion the small tutorial groups are a perfect opportunity to work and get in close contact with students from literally all over the world and thus broaden my own horizons and develop intercultural competence and learn to work in international teams which is very important in today’s constantly changing global markets.
In fact, the small family-like groups with their problem-based learning method are my main reason for choosing the University ABC above all others. I think this education system supports the student’s learning progress best, hence it will help me develop my own personality and social skills in an optimal way.
I am sure that my high level of motivation and my strong desire to succeed will enrich the University’s community. I am an open minded person with good interpersonal competence and a sense of responsibility. Subsequently one of my great strengths is to collaborate and work in teams. Besides this I have excellent analytical skills and also a very powerful problem solving ability. Additionally I have (an?) excellent English proficiency and speak English fluently. I think these are essential character attributes/traits of a future international business graduate!
After graduating from school in June 2006, I have started to work at XYZ, an insurance company to gain some work experience and be able to finance my trip to the United States.
(In order )To be best prepared for the international business programme I will attend a language school in San Francisco for 1 month this year. This intensive English course will have a special module focusing on business English. I hope this shows my seriousness about fulfilling the demands on (the profile of) a prospective bachelor’s student at University ABC.
Looking at my career aspirations, my goal is to gain an understanding of multi-national companies and their strategic marketing process. I want to pursue a career in the investment section, working for an investment bank or work as an advertising manager.
To sum it up, I chose University ABC for the internationally, the practice orientation and the fact that the programme is completely taught in English. I am eager to work hard in order to ensure a successful preparation to face the challenge of today’s business world.
Enclosed you will find all required documents. Thank you for taking the time to consider my application.
Yours faithfully,
my name
