Do you think 'as' can start a sentence if it is replacing 'since' or 'because'?

Example:

As I am allergic to dairy, I can't eat any cheese.

I think that sounds weird.

Hi,

Do you think 'as' can start a sentence if it is replacing 'since' or 'because'?

Example: As I am allergic to dairy, I can't eat any cheese.

It sounds OK to me.

'As' (and 'since') are often used when the reason is not very important in the sentence.

Best wishes, Clive
