big vacation is a little strange; long vacation is the idiomatic way to say it.

Hi,

I'd accept 'a big vacation' as an informal way of saying 'an important, exciting, special, expensive vacation'.

eg for me here in Canada, going to Japan would be a big vacation.

Best wishes, Clive
