Use it when you want toshow that something in the past is relevant to the present. eg Dad, I have passed my driving test. Can I borrow the car? I don't know if you need a more detailed answer. When do i I use ,  the present perfect?” It's easier to say when not to use the present perfect.  Don't use the present perfect when you mention a definite time.  Use the present perfect when the time in the past is indefinite or not mentioned.
