My future career aim is to do practical and legal work for human rights organizations as well as to continue academic work in human rights field.

There are several ways how Master’s programme in the Theory and Practice of Human Rights will contribute to my future career.

Firstly, I need to get a deep and solid education in International human rights law. The Theory and Practice of Human Rights programme is intended for students from vide variety of backgrounds and for those who want to do practical or legal work for human rights organisations. Moreover, this postgraduate programmer is an interdisciplinary degree and gives an excellent grounding not only in international law and international human rights law, but also in political theory, international relations and the philosophical foundations of rights.  Although, during last seven years I have gained extensive non-formal human rights education and practice in human rights protection (internship in Equal Opportunities Ombudsmen office, voluntary work in youth peer education programme in organisation In Corpore),  I am missing competent knowledge of International human rights law.

Secondly, I want to connect my future academic and practical work with right to health issues. For last two years I have voluntary worked in the “Youth Friendly Health Services” project which was conducted together with UNDP. Moreover, my final thesis In *** University focused on sexual and reproductive health education and impact assessment. Consequently, I would like to continue my professional practice in human right to health field.  Therefore, I have chosen to study in Centre, which is famous about Right to Health Unit and where the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to health works. I am sure that MA programme will be excellent opportunity to deepen my knowledge as well as to acquire competence to advocate right to health as fundamental human right.

Thirdly, I wish to continue the practical work in the field of human rights trainings and to give added value for human rights education programmes.  Having a practice in non-formal education and knowledge in local and international human rights legislation made me a perfect candidate for three years advanced training course in human rights education organized by the ***. Now I am at the process of successfully completing forth part of the training course and writing a manual on human rights education and activism.  I have chosen to study in Human Rights Centre not only for its theoretical and practical approach to human rights, but also because of there existing  Advocacy, Training and Education Programme. Studies in Human Rights Centre are an excellent opportunity to raise my competences in human rights training and education to advanced level.

As a committed and hard-working person with seven years experience in human rights activism and the willingness to work for human rights organizations, I strongly believe that I am a proficient candidate for the *** postgraduate award.
