I can't imagine how you can drop a vowel, to be honest - do you have any examples.

Some working class accents drop some consonants.

You only have to listen to upperclass people and lowerclass people speaking to get the gist, but my statement was intentionally sweeping, meant more as a starting point for discussion than a linguistic hypothesis.

Ah I see what you mean.

We usually say that 'clipped' vowels are an element of upper-class speech, rather than 'dropped' vowels, but the effect is the same. Yes, it can be a feature.
