This is taken from Dream Theater song Hollow Year. How I should understand this line?

Thank You

Over the line?! You-you’re-you’re so far past the line, that you-you can’t even see the line! The line is a dot to you!

Hollow Year - Dream Theater

He's just a kind of man
You hear about
Who leaves his family for
An easy out
They never said a word
He couldn't take another day

Carry me to the shoreline
Bury me in the sand
Walk me across the water
And maybe you'll understand

Once the stone
You're crawling under
Is lifted
Off your shoulders
Once you head disapears
The noise that you'll hear
Is the crashing down of hollow years

She's not the kind of girl
You hear about
She'll never want another
She'll never be without
She'll give you all the signs
She'll tell you everything
Then turn around and walk away

Carry me to the shoreline
Bury me in the sand
Walk me across the water
And maybe you'll understand

Once the stone
You're crawling under
Is lifted off your shoulders
Once the cloud that's raining
Over you head disappears
The noise that you'll hear
Is the crashing down of hollow years

Carry me to the shoreline
Bury me in the sand
Walk me across the water
And maybe you'll understand

Once the stone
You're crawling under
Is lifted off your shoulders
Once the cloud that's raining
Over you head disappears
The noise that you'll hear
Is the crashing down of hollow years.

Great....songs usually don't translate well without some reworking of sentences, and it doesn't help that this could be interpreted a few ways, so it goes.

Walk me across the water = Help me walk on water

Tattered, so this was your own interpretation?

I want to understand the chorus completely and it seems difficult to me. Smile [:)] I mean I can't get what they wanted to say with all song and why the title of it is hollow years.

Has anybody ideas? It's a beautiful song. Listen to it if you can. Wink [;)]

Yea guess it really is my own interpretation, but as with any song no one can say "It means _____" with 100% certainty.  Big Smile [:D]  I suppose its the nature of music, right?

But anyway, "hollow years" can mean unfilled years which leads to--->1)  wasted years  (this is most likely)

Hollow can also mean,
"devoid of truth or validity" (dictionary.com) so hollow years could also refer to a time when people mentioned in the song were lied to. Wink [;)]

Thanks!

Don't worry, I agree with your interpretation. Wink [;)]

I'm a math lover, so I usually find it hard to understand songs Sad [:(]
