I was reading a website on English grammar. I came across a sentence which reads:"The old man
wanted hide his money, for he feared his children would steal it from him."
My quesiton is, why there is no "to" after "wanted"? Would someone shed some light on it?

The student studied all night long; she had a test the next day.
Patterns: Sentence ; sentence.
Subject + Predicate ; Subject + Predicate.
