Hi

We wore it as a stubborn badge of pride that we weren't prepared to fall into line with every other group and take the fashionable stance of the day. We were uncool because we were hot, we just erupted as a live band.

--- These are the words said by The Edge from U2. I'll try to paraphrase them because I'm not sure I understand them (especially the first sentence).

"We were stubborn and proud at the same time because we didn't want to play/behave like every other group and be fashionable. They thought we were uncool but in fact we were hot (exciting) and we became successful as a live band."

Am I pretty much correct?

They thought we were uncool but in fact we were hot (exciting) and we became successful as a live band." Maybe. The meaning of the original statement is unclear to me.

Best wishes, Clive
