In the next sentence, is "wear out" appropriate when you want to hope that the depressed feeling disappear?  

I'm feeling depressed these days. I hope this wears out soon.

take away from your energy, make you weaker.
your phrasal verb applies too!

it means your energy level yield to the second law of thermodynamicsSmile [:)]
(in equilibrium, the energy level of a system is at minimum.)
