There's a funny joke about him,in Italy: Berlusconi is having a shower, meanwhile his wife enter in the bathroom, and she finds him completely naked,so she says:O,my God!,and he replies:O dear! You can call me Silvio when we are togheter!..we also say that in every joke there's a bit of truth! What is it that people like about him, Nyla? Is it simply that he's not Prodi?

Well, I was wondering why he attracts votes. Looking in "from the outside", it seems mystifying. So I wondered whether people voted for him simply because they disliked the alternatives.

(In the UK, for instance, people seem to vote for X because they don't like Y, rather than because they like X. It's a curious business.)

MrP

I think he attracts a lot because he is charming,in some way,and also because he reflects the old right wing leader,as Mussolini did, loved by the elderly melancholic people, and by the youth who don't know what a war and a dictatorship are. He's even conservative, and "strong" catholic.Population like him even because he does many good promises, for example the last was to cancel the taxation on the first house (I.C.I),but he has to find 2.5 billions of old Lira, and usually he brings this money in some ministry,i.e. he cutted 50% of funds from the ministry of University and Instruction, even the funds for Research were cutted..

I don't know if Italians vote MrB,only because they don't like MrP (not you,but you'll be better then them..anyway! Big Smile [:D]),as far as I'm concerned I don't like both,so I had chosen another person..but I think the best promise, behaviour and presence, will take more votes! On one hand Berlusconi did one of the best promises of the campaign,he has even presence, but he behaved badly with other countries(China,Germany..),and he insulted Italian left wings voters,on the other hand Prodi is an anti-Berlusconi,supported by all the people that felt betrayed by MrB government,he had a good behaviour (almost all the time, not always!!),and he did some good promises to population, but he doesn't look like a leader as Berlusconi.

To Jannissary: it happens to be a megalomaniac if you possess the 90% of italian medias (your own tv channels plus the national channels, that are in your possession because you are the PM),some newspapers,a strong soccer team playing in Serie A(english Premier League,or german Bundesliga),many enterprises, banks, and Exchange quotations..and you are, also, the 25th most rich man in the world..it happens..

I'm eager to know how this election will end....I hope that "8th dwarf" will come back to Snowwhite! Only in this case Italy will stop to make bad figures all over the world! See you tomorrow with the results!

hmm. that can be possible.

anyway, now the election is over and the first results show prodi is ahead of his rival, berlusconi by five points. am i right?

i am curiously waiting for the definite results. actually i am a little disappointed. i would prefer berlusconi rather than prodi.berlusconi is a colorful character and to watch him on TVs always entertained meSmile [:)]

on the other hand, berlusconi is a good ally for most european countries. i dont know whether other european countries want Prodi as a socialist.(meanwhile i dont believe Prodi is a socialist in fact but never the less he represents the left wing)
