i think berlusconi belongs to the new generations of politicians (even if he's old), you know this kind of people who say a lot of things to poor and weak people, actually they lie. He is like bush or in france chirac(super liar, his former nickname here in france Big Smile [:D]) or sarkozy.

Moreover he seems to be linked with the mafia. i don't know if it's true, but i heard something like that. I don't know why italian people still trust in him. Maybe because he is "funny"?

Anyway, politicians are just a crew of crooks unfortunately.

He strongly reminds me of my state's "esteemed" governor, Arnold Schwarzenneger.

I guess Berlusconi could "fit" very well in USA...his kind of electoral campaign and his way to look on tv remind me the politicians from USA

I meant that Berlusconi's attitude, behavior, and type of polticial campaigning is very reminiscent of Schwarzenegger.

I think a lot of people have been disappointed with Schwarzenegger because he originally advertised himself as a sort of "anti-politician" that would bring common sense and responsibility back to the government of California. However, he's been extremely political in his policy-making and generally ignores or makes fun of anyone that disagrees with him. For instance, he publically called the California legislature a bunch of "girly men" (though I admit, it was funny). Unfortunately for him, California's legislature is controlled by the Democrats (he's a Republican), so he often cannot accomplish much, since they give such strong opposition to whatever he tries to push through. He tried to get some radical bills passed in the last round of proposition votes (in California, it's possible to have direct votes on "propositions" which bypass the legislature and the governor and automatically become law if approved by the majority) and they were all shot down, largely due to major resistance and campaigning by the labor unions. Basically, he's actually done very little of what he promised in his election campaign -- granted, that's by no means specific to him -- but his unusually grandiose boasts and claims, even by American political standards, ended up being just that: hot air.
