Interesting opinions...

I think...every person is a unique one...I don't want to have all these clichées about germans or other people...
I'm not very proud to be german...I'm proud of being myself...That's all...

I hate this idea of nationalism...Germany is as good or bad as all other countries...Because people were too proud and self confident the world had so many crisises and wars...
You see, there is the 65 years old man namend Heinrich, his favourite hobby is visiting the "Beer garden"...there he meets his friends every sunday and they are talking about the awful youth in their country...There is his wife Irmtrud, a bored woman, she visits the church while her husband is drinking with his friends....She always talks about the bad habits of youths and of her daughter-in-law...
Two examples...of the older people...and I think, it's the same everywhere...
As you can imagine, it's the same with the youth...

You might as well be 'proud' of having two legs and ten fingers.

You didn't choose it. You can't change it. What is there to be 'proud' of?

MrP

I don't agree, Mr. P.
Pride (or shame, I suppose) is a natural response to growing up in a social collective.
I don't think it's in anyone's best interests to disassociate themselves from their home.  Pride is an important contributor towards a sense of identity and union, and, let's face it...people feel good when they have pride in where they are from.

Hmm. So you would say that what we call pride is principally a characteristic of a social animal?

With people, yes, I think so.  I can't speak for the rest of the critters.  Smile [:)]
It may be that pride is a better, more productive manifestation of ego, but I guess that's for another conversation.

I've been to Germany once, and really loved it with all my heart!Smile [:)]

I live in Russia, but went to visit my friends who live in Friedrichshafen on lake Bodensee. It's a wonderful place with spectacular view around. I visited Bavaria and the incredibly stunning castle Neuschwanstein as well.

I love the way you German celebrate Weinachten. I wish I could be in Berlin on 25th December!

What else about Germany? I noticed  - many German guys are REALLY handsome!Smile [:)]))
