It is obvious that you are partial to the Israelis, just because Israel, US and Britain are allies?

Britain is said to behave like a *** to the US, as it agrees everything with the US. It never dare not say no to the US.

(I didn't say it, but I've heard this analogy several times before.)

Sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. Wickedness does not go altogether unrequited.

I won't reply to this thread any more.

Hello Jingtian

I don't have any particular reason to be "partial to the Israelis". If someone were to call all Syrians, Iraqis, Iranians, Quakers, black people, Muslims, redheads, or one-legged Norwegians over 40 with chronic halitosis "evil" or "demonic", I would have similar reservations.

But thank you anyway for an interesting discussion!

Best wishes

Hello MrP,

May I take back what I said. I might have several more messages to post here.

I'm glad that you don't "demonise" those people you mentioned above.

But judging from what you have said above, you do have discriminations against them. What's so particular about the above-mentioned people? I don't believe that "all men are created equal", but I "all men are born equal". You refer to those people just because you think they are different from you and you despise them. So their names easily come to your mind when you want to evidence that you are not partial to others. To me, different colors, nationalities, races, beliefs do not matter much, as there is one common thing between us is that we are all humans.

"Is the value of human life in Lebanon less than that of the citizens of other countries?" he (Lebanese Prime Minister) asked. "Can the international community stand by while such callous retribution by the state of Israel is inflicted on us?"

I find the action of both sides abhorrent. Neither side is capable yet of observing a ceasefire, for one reason or another. The killing should be stopped immediately and it certainly must be a lasting peace. My question is does either side want it and how is the UN to enforce it ? I hope and pray a solution is found as too many are suffering especially the young and innocent.Regretably Blair believes in what he says he is not mouthing Bush's words.

Now what peace and what ceasefire would make any sense to them, everything have been distructed, nothing left. Lebanon's people say, we are homeless, without work, nothing left, so now we have only one purpose in our life that we have to take an account of our every death at any cost in any way.

DO YOU CONDEMN THIS TERRORIST ACT OF ISRAEL OR NOT?????????

Hello Anon

I doubt very much whether Olmert (or Nasrallah, for that matter) are particularly interested in my opinions; but no, I don't think the Israeli government should have acted as they have acted.

Hello Jingtian

...May I take back what I said. I might have several more messages to post here...

Of course. You don't need to ask. This is your site.

...I'm glad that you don't "demonise" those people you mentioned above. But judging from what you have said above, you do have discriminations against them. What's so particular about the above-mentioned people?...

They are all likely to be the object of irrational prejudice. For instance, Iran and Iraq were included in President Bush's so-called "axis of evil" (there's that word again). Red-haired people were associated with the devil in the Middle Ages (cf. the word "demonic"). And so on.

Therefore it's natural to include Iraqis, Iranians, redheads, etc. in a list of people who are likely to be the object of irrational prejudice. (I might also have included Jews, homosexuals, lawyers, and the Welsh, of course.)

...I don't believe that "all men are created equal", but I "all men are born equal". You refer to those people just because you think they are different from you and you despise them...

Well, no; as I said, I would respond to anyone who said "all Syrians are evil" in the same way I responded to your statement that all Israelis are "evil", i.e. I would have similar reservations about its accuracy.

By the way, you're assuming I don't have red hair or chronic halitosis.

...So their names easily come to your mind when you want to evidence that you are not partial to others...

No; their names come easily to my mind when I want to list the kind of people who have to put up with irrational prejudice.

...To me, different colors, nationalities, races, beliefs do not matter much, as there is one common thing between us is that we are all humans...

If you'll forgive me for saying so, that does seem to contradict your earlier statement that all Israelis are "evil" and "demonic" and deserve eternal torment.

Best wishes

Who are you to demand anything from Mr Pedantic or anyone for that matter?. Some of us have made it abundntly clear that we find violence and war abhorrent. Hate of anyone never solved anything. Some people make it clear that they want Israel to disappear off the face of the earth. No one in the UN will tolerate this. If there is rational discussion and dialogue a solution may be found and innocent people will not suffer. So let us hope and pray both sides want peace and the bloodshed stops. This forum fortunately seeks rational discussion not bias. I personally am greatly saddened to see  what is going on in the Middle East and would like an immediate ceasefire.

You are completely right David. No one in UN doesnt tolerate such a thing-though they tolerate the massacre of 800 Lebanese people in a week or scores of Palestinian people who have been killed by Israel so far and so on.

I can understand why for Israel deaths of thousands of Lebanese or Palestinian people dont worth two Isreali soldiers .(Dont ask me why?It is not much for such a country who can make such evil actions) But what I cannot understand is how the world just watches what Israeli is doing. They dont just kill people. They also damage our world.

" BEIRUT (AFP) - The Mediterranean is threatened by its worst ever environmental disaster after Israels bombing of a power plant in Lebanon sent thousands of tonnes of fuel gushing into the sea, the environment minister charged.

"Up until now 10,000-15,000 tonnes of heavy fuel oil have spilled out into the sea," after Israel's bombing of the power station in Jiyeh two weeks ago, Lebanese Environment Minister Yacub Sarraf told AFP Saturday.

"It's without doubt the biggest environmental catastrophe that the Mediterranean has known and it risks having terrible consequences not only for our country but for all the countries of the eastern Mediterranean."

you can read the rest here : http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060729/wl_mideast_afp/mideastconflictlebanonenvironment_060729120853;_ylt=Ar4385rwaVoeBLXioVNlr2sUvioA;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl

It seems it is not of use to narrate the vicious actiouns of Israel.Nowadays,it only impairs my nerves to read a newspaper or watch TV.I hope everything will be allright. But every crime has a punishment. Little crimes are executed in little courts. However, such big crimes need to be executed in big courts, thats for sure.

By the way,I have found a good cartoon in a Turkish newspaper which describes the events in a humorous way.

If I demanded something from MrP, it's mean I take him as brother!

Me too. The good peoples of the Earth (and that is the overwhelming majority of people of ALL our wonderful cultures and religions) should DEMAND an immediate ceasefire!

This sickening slaughter is completely and utterly inhumane. Why is it that our 'leaders' turn a blind eye in some situations but not in others?
