Dear teachers,

What do we call a person who is second to the head of a department at a college and who does administrative work such as making the timetable, etc.  Is he/she called the coordinator, since he coordinates administrative issues at the department?

Thanks

Hi,

If you mean they do mundane, clerical-oriented things, perhaps 'administrative assistant'?

If you mean they have a more professional role relating to the subject that the department teaches, that's another matter. Perhaps something like 'Assistant Department Head'?

Best wishes, Clive
