Is Medical center smaller?
I also heard that in Medical center they give medical education ,...

Thank you
In Houston, we have a famous medical center. It has many hospitals, medical research institutions, and post-graduate universities specialized in medicine. Here is a description from Wiki:

The Texas Medical Center is the largest medical center in the world with one of the highest densities of clinical facilities for patient care, basic science, and translational research. Located in Houston, the center contains 49 medicine-related institutions, including 13 hospitals and two specialty institutions, two medical schools, four nursing schools, and schools of dentistry, public health, pharmacy, and other health-related practices.
Exceeding one thousand acres in size, the center is larger than downtown Dallas. Some member institutions are located outside of the city of Houston. The center is where one of the first and largest air ambulance services was created and where a successful inter-institutional transplant program was developed. According to the Texas Medical Center, more heart surgeries are performed here than anywhere else in the world.

There are many medical facilities that use the term 'medical center' instead of hospital. I imagine the reason is that they want to emphasize that they have much more to offer than just a bunch of beds for sick people. This could include physical rehabilitation facilities, certain testing procedures and other specialties. I don't know of any that include actual education opportunities, but that certainly is possible.

Hi,

In Canada, the term is used quite loosely. It may be a hospital, or just some doctors. Maybe other people, eg chiropractors.

For example:

You might also have a look at the term 'medical clinic'.

Hi,
It is not the matter of bigger or smaller. Medical center in India refers to those hospitals which provide Out-patients services. There are some small hospitals named as xyz medical center wherein the patients undergo treatment for AIDS, Tuberculosis, Leprosy. Some medical centers even provide minor surgical services.
The hospital which give medical education in India is called xyz medical college & Hospital.
Example: Osmania Medical College & Hospital, Gandhi Medical College & Hospital, All-India Institute of Medical Sciences etc.

In India, Hospitals are divided into three types:
1. General Hospital : A government Hospital
2. Multi speciality Hospital: Provide services in more than two medical specialties.
3. Super speciality Hospital: Provide services in more than 5 medical specialties.
4. Corporate Hospital: Provide services in all the medical specialties.

Let me know if you require any other information on this topic.

Dear Mr. V. S. Rao,

We are Brand Management Consultants for Hospitals. My understanding for your below given categories are different. Kindly clarify if I am right:

In India, Hospitals are divided into three types:
1. General Hospital : A government Hospital
2. Multi speciality Hospital: Provide services in more than two medical specialties.
3. Super speciality Hospital: Provide services in more than 5 medical specialties. I thought, the Super speciality hospital is the one which focusses on one speciality immensely, like Shankara Nethralaya or Escorts (earlier heart). But you seem to have different view on this
4. Corporate Hospital: Provide services in all the medical specialties. This is run by a private team not a govt. initiative. it is irrespective of any no. of specialities
Thanks and regards

Dear Maám,
would like to say that you are both right on point 3.A super speciality hospital should specialise exclusively in any/all of the speciality treatments. But i think you are right on point no 4.
Hi, Madam Chitra.
AnonymousThis is run by a private team not a govt. initiative. it is irrespective of any no. of specialities
Did I write that a Corporate hospital is run by the Government?
