What does the phrase ''curtain to come down" mean? Does it stand for the beginning or ending of the show?

It’s a difficult question for any man to answer… Whether to follow his dreams no matter what… Or to give in slowly and let life lead you where it will.

It means the end of the performance.

Also euphemistically, "curtains" can refer to death.

“ ''curtain to come down" ”
Some stage curtains close in from the sides, some down from the top. End of the act, or end of the show.

Also, "Ring down the curtain"  -  a bit more dramatic.  Used figuratively to mark the end of most anything.

Ring down the curtain on the Chrysler Corporation and General Motors.
