adjective is describe nouns by answering one these three question: What kind is it? How many are there? Which one is it? and Adjectives can be a singleworld, a phrase, or a clause.

Examples:

What kind is it?
   Dan decided that the fuzzy green bread would make  an unappetizing  sandwich.

What kind of bread? Fuzzy green! What kind of sandwich? Unappetizing!

The truck-shaped balloon floated over the treetops. Mrs. Morrison papered her kitchen walls with hideous wall paper. The small boat foundered on the wine dark sea. The coal mines are dark and dank.
