I'm living in downtown nowadays. Where do you live by the way??”

The word you are looking for is "downtown" and it has different meanings in different cities. The best you are likely to do as far as a formal definition is this at Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downtown

and this at Answers.com:

Hi, Ray

BTW, is it natural to say "I live in downtown"?

Wouldn't it be more natural to say "I live downtown" (the "in" is dropped out) ?

Thanks !

Right you are, Mr. P.  We don't say "I'm going to downtown" or "I live in (or at) downtown."

I'm going downtown.  I live downtown.  Downtown is where all the action is.

Yes, it usually refers to the business hub of the city.

Yes, I missed making that correction in the original post.

Just to make it a little more complicated -- you would only use a preposition if "downtown" is being used as an adjective describing part of a city, as opposed to a noun.  In other words, you would say

I live downtown.

I'm going downtown.

but

I live in downtown Los Angeles.
