It's the noise that lions and tigers make - very loud and deep vocalization. Engines can roar too, perticularly motorbikes when accelerated hard.

Then I think the `roar' is noun.

But can you say which noun? (abstract or concrete or common or proper)

It's a noun and a verb.

Verb: The lion roared.

When it's a noun, it can be countable: The lion's roars shook the jungle.  When Marge found the letter, she let out a roar. But it can also be abstract: The most terifying sound in the animal kingdom is the roar of the lion.
