hello dear friends. I have a question. (as you see, my English isn't very good)

"what is the weather like"

what is the "like"s duty in this sentence? Is it adjective, adverb or noun?

I hope you can help me...

with best wishes...

i've asked somebody. he says "like" is an adverb in this sentence.

but he couldn't explain why. so, is there anyone who can explain it?

Hi Lopcuk,

Welcome to the Forum.

what is the weather like?

Let's consider how to answer this question. People would probably just say rain or It's raining. But I think the longer form of the answer, although we never actually say it, would be The weather is like rain. When I look at it this way, I'd say that like is an adjective.

Best wishes, Clive
