I hear it the first time. Where have you learnt this and got such information? I don't think you were informed correctly.

People in Russia have more opportunities now than it was in the USSR. And more information. And more problems too. So, we have many more things these days. ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)

I won't discuss this question because it will really lead to nothing.

I have neither dreams nor hopes. I have only the confidence that everything is fine to Russia in the future. The same is to many other countries, though.
Tell me what you think of my country, what you know (exept what you have already said) about it?

ok,,let me tell what i know, and say if they re right or not..
1. first of all,,economy.. the russian economy shows two signs,,one hand is western style capitalism, and the consolidation of corporatist, criminal-style capitalism on the other..yeah,,u ve robber barons in ur country, and it can t be called as a capitalist system,,maybe it s called as an oligarchy.. Far from creating an open market, Russia has consolidated a semi-criminal oligarchy that was already largely in place under the old Soviet system. After communisms collapse, it merely changed its appearance..
2. i don t think there s a finished democracy system in ur country,,yeah it may be that "Russians are freer than at any time in their history" but not to the other countries or nations..
3.and racism.. i ve watched racist teens several times on tv,,is this nothing? this is true in lots of countries..
i d like to talk about the russian culture, and sightseeings..but i don t have any info,i ve never been there..but i ll see one day..

Well I think of Russia with mingled feelings. But for the soviet occupation, I'd look on Russia as a friendly country. It is due to the Russian intrusion in 1944 that Bulgaria is in such a sorry state now. Being a fervent anti-communist, I cant's help resenting that very deed. Aside from that, Russia has a lot of worthy scientists and authors who have made immense contribution to the world's literature and science.

Well, Chiquillo, we really have criminal, oligarches, and radical bands in Russia. But I know these things are also in plenty of other countries. By the way, when I read BBC or CNN news (in English), I am astonished to see how they distort facts concerning Russia... Though, I think all the media in the World always do it.

What is "open market" in your opinion?
Chiquillo wrote: | | i don t think there s a finished democracy system in ur country |

I wonder what "a finished democracy system" is and what countries it exists in.
I just want to make clear these terms.

There are the next indigenous populations in Russia: the Russians, Tartars, Chuvash, Bashkirs, Buryats, Chukchies, Yakuts, Nentcy, Mordva, Evenky, Khanty, Mansy, Komy, Adygeitcy, Karely, Nganasany, Koryaky, Udmurty, Tuvintcy, Itelmeny, Yukagiry, Dolgany, Kety... This list is not complete because, for example, only in the Caucasus there are more than 40 peoples. All of them have cultural differences. What culture would you like to talk about? About the Russians' culture only or about the culture of the other peoples of Russia? ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)

you re definetly right..the media use the facts in their advates or the deep factors..for instance, CNN has no rights while its government has lots of treads in humanrights..

a finished democracy system has no place over the world,maybe..but it s not an utopia, maybe canada, benelux or some european countries ve done it..firstly, the respect or regards ve must been to any countries and nations..every nations have to have a place in their own decisions..and democratic governments have to repect them..for example,in caucasia..i don t blame only russia, it s similar in turkey, middle east or anywhere over the world..

No offence, but it is due to Bulgaria herself she is in such a sorry state now. Look at Japan; she is quite a developed country these days. But after 1945 her state was not much better than Bulgaria's. Probably, Japan's state was even worse because of Hiroshima and Nagasaki...

A wise decision. ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)

I belong to the Russians. But if we are going to talk about me, I am afraid this is off topic because the title is "What do you think of Russia and Russian ppl?" but not "What do you know about Ruslana". ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
One of our national instruments is balalaika. You can see it below.
Chiquillo, I am not sure it is a good idea to talk about Russian culture in this thread because, again, the title refer to what foreigners think about Russia but not to what her culture is. I have told something about Russian customs here and, perhaps, I will tell more. Anyway, I doubt that the special thread "About Russian culture" (or something like that) is going to be very popular. Though, I don't say I will never create it. ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
