Hi,
I know how to use "let" but sometime I see "let's". Can everybody help me out?
OK, we'll just focus on let's.
Short for 'let us'.
It's used to urge, to make a strong suggestion or exhortation. By 'us', it refers to the speaker and the person or persons that this is said to.
eg Let's go to Paris. The speaker is suggesting that the speaker and the person or persons he is talking to should go to Paris.
eg Let's have fish for dinner.
eg Let's go to the movies.
eg Let''s get married.
It can also follow the suggestion. eg
Tom: Mary, I think we should get married.
Mary: Oh, Tom, let's!
It can also be used in the negative.
eg Let's not go to the movies.
Best wishes. Clive
