The gloves were sold out or the gloves had been sold out.

I hope you don't mind my correcting your grammar.

I went shopping to buy a pair of black gloves. (or I went to a shop to buy a pair of black gloves.) When I went there, I found them all sold out.

I'm still not sure that I understand, Alia.

You can use passive voice (is/was/been + -ed form) for most verbs that have an object.

I went to the haberdasher shop, but all the gloves had been sold.
They were bought by a group of octopi.
The octopi were caught by the zoo staff, and the gloves have been returned to the haberdasher.

Could you please write some sample sentences?-- That will be clearer than explaining.
