Hi,

I think a lot of questions on this topic have been asked but no definite answers seem to have been given . Is 'the' here acting as an indefinite article for 'perfume'?

The launch was followed by a 47% increase in sales for Parlux, which was predominantly due to sales of the Hilton-branded perfume.

How about this?

The information came from the Seoul-based FeFix. (Let us assume that FeFix is the name of a company.)

In your first example, the definite article 'the' refers to 'perfume'.  In the second sentence, it refers to FeFix.
