What's the difference between these two when it comes to choosing?

What do you like?
Which do you like?

With "which," a specific group of choices is available.  With "what," there may be no restrictions on what can be chosen.

What do you like to eat?  What would you like for your birthday?

Which of the American League baseball teams do you like?    Which presidential candidate do you like?
