Which one is right or how can I fix it?

The sentences are:

1) Which city does she live in?

2) In which city does she live?

3) At which city does she live?

4) What city does she live?

Nr.1 sounds best. 3 and 4 are not correct.

I think, this one is also correct, "What city does she live in?"

You say "Which city does she live in?" when you have a limited choice of cities. "What...in?" is when you don't know, and are faced with all the cities in the world...

On the other hand, Pieanne, the number of all the cities in the world is limited. So, it is no matter (if I am faced with all them) whether I use "which" or "what".

Just a supposition.

Tongue Tied [:S]  Let's say you use "Which city ... ?" when you have a rather limited range of cities in mind. Imagine you're booking a trip to New York, and there are 4 cities (airports) in your area you can depart from. The agent will ask you "Which city will you be departing from?".

On the other hand, if you're in a travel agency, and say "I'd like to visit a city", the agent will ask you "What city?", not "Which"...

Yes, Pieanne, I agree. I just expressed a supposition (logical supposition?). Never mind. Smile [:)]

No problem, Ruslana... Smile [:)]
