Hi,

I have three sentences. Tell me which one is right?

You are non-native speaker of French.

You are a non-native speaker of French.

You are the non-native speaker of French.

1) Incorrect as it needs an article.

2) Correct as you are merely one of many non-native speakers of French.

3) Usually incorrect as this is saying you are the only non-native speaker of French. It could be correct in certain circumstances though, for example, if somewhere were challenged to find the non-native speaker among a group of 5 people talking French, they might say point at one and say 'YOU are the non-native speaker of French'.

But if you are talking in general terms, this phrase would be incorrect.
