10- Ludacris
9- Wyclef Jean
8- KRS-one
7- Andre 3000
6- Lauren Hill
5- Rakim
4- Eminem
3- Notorious B.I.G.
2- 2pac
1- Nas

ludacris: not incredibly deep, but funny. I like the type of rappers that have deep, meaningful lyrics that don't talk about partying and bling every other word, but Luda is the one exception because of his comedic style.

wyclef: good, deep lyrics, especially in his fugee days

KRS: one of the first rappers to use his raps to teach and send a positive message, and had the ability to use both rap and reggae styles in the same song. he would be higher on this list though, if it didn't always sound like he was shouting in his songs.

andre: the king of originality in every way, including lyrically. He can be both funny and deep, often at the same time.

lauren hill: the best female MC i've ever heard. good, deep lyrics with messages.

rakim: one of the smoothest-flowing rappers i've ever heard, and had some of the best rhyming skills and patterns i've ever heard. still, he wouldn't be on this list if he didn't use his raps to send a message.

eminem: incredible skills, written and freestyle. vocally, he has probably the best enunciation i've ever heard. lyrically, he has great, occasionally comedic lyrics that he uses to send messages, and great rhyming skills

Biggie: Incredble flows and lyrical wordplay. He usually has a message, but he talks slightly too much about parties and money. If not for his song "Juicy", he wouln't have such a prominent place on this list.

2pac: A great lyricist, and an interesting, dynamic person. Everything he was thinking he put into a song, which almost always contained message-sending lyrics. His death made him truely legendary, and the song "changes" earned him the number 2 spot on this list

Nas: I'd say he's the deepest, most skilled rapper in virtually every way. His lyrics all have deep content that parallel, if not surpass those of 2pac, his wordplay rivals the notorious BIG's, and his flows and rhyming skills are almost identical to that of Rakim. He is a skilled storyteller, a intellectual philosopher, a positive activist, and, when needed, an unbeaten verbal combatent. In "One Mic", he declares that he has no weaknesses, and that has proved to be true. His flawless versatility makes him who I consider to be the greatest MC.

Nas? Biggie? Eminem? 50 cent? Wu tang? That guy who said 50 cent is the greatest just got out of Jr. high. He thinks chingy is up there too! LOL. Go back and get some schooling.

50 cent was cool for the first 2 weeks that he came out but I think he's all washed up and overplayed. When asked what he thought of being compared to 2pac, he giggled like a little schoolgirl. Any one who even makes that comparison knows nothing about rap (like MTV).

Eminem-half of his popularity comes from his white skin so his accomplishments are questionable. He even said it himself.

Nas, Biggie, Wu tang, nowhere near 2pac. Greatest rapper of all time. Every word that comes out of his mouth, it feels like he's trying to comfort us and let us know we're not alone in this struggle. The way he makes his lyrics so vivid is because he knows what we're going through b/c he went through the same shit. I'm tired of hearing rappers talk about bentleys and cristal and salt shakers. Their music are more for clubbers. With 2Pac, you can be at a club or chillen at home with your boys and still feel his music.

i think that everyone is entitled to their own opinoin but those who put Biggie before Pac, are out of their minds. Pac never stopped being real, after a while it just became about the money with Biggie. Pac is still making songs after his death and his songs remain relavent. Pac is one of the greatest lyricist ever, and that will never change.

2pac is the greatest rapper of all time. u could understand where he was coming from. he wasn't faje like ja rule. nelly is straight up annoying. i like B.I.G. because of "juicy", and Ice Cube and Eazy and Snoop are my other most favorite rappers. i also like too short.

the one and only..... Eminem is the best and greatest rapper of all times

Nelly is crap
50 Cent is crap
O-trice is all right
the rest of D12 is ok
Ja Rule can kiss my @$$
JD is all right
Jay Z sounds best when he actually writes out his words instead of freestyling them all the time on the spot

if you don't believe Eminem is the best...i suggest you start listening to his songs...here are some for anyone to start them off...

Till I Collapse
Renegade (Jay-Z and Eminem)
Warrior Part 2 (with Lloyd Banks, Nate Dogg, and 50 Cent)
8 Mile Road
Loyalty (ft. O-trice)
Fight Music (ft. D12)
Git Up (ft. D12)
40 Oz. (ft. D12)

Those are just a few...and his voice is unique so you can't miss it. His lyrics are insanely good

I know you are probably just tryna piss people off, but i'm still going to try to point out how foolish your post was.

"TUPAC IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE GREATEST RAPPER ALIVE"

Yo home skillit, if you ever come back to read this, I thought you could use a little news report: Tupac has been dead since 1996.

Lots of people say Pac was the greatest MC ever. Indeed, he was a great MC, but much of the reason many people refuse to believe there will ever be an (arguably) better MC is because he died while he was at the top of his game. Nobody has a memory of him ever being defeated because he didn't have time enough for that to happen. Because of this, we remember him in all his god-like glory, not the genius, yet flawed human being that he was.

"PAC IS THE KING OF RAP AND WEED!!!!!!!"

weed, huh, is that what you were on when you posted that?

"HE AINT LIKE EMINEM OR 50 CENT OR ANYONE IN THE RAP GAME THESE DAYS.. HE DONT LIE IN HIS LYRICS AND TALK ABOUT JUST XXXXXXX HOES AND OTHER STUPID sh*t"

He said himself that he did lie in his lyrics. He added a lot of made-up gansta stuff to help sales and to help him be accepted as a rapper.

He did too talk about "hoes" and other stupid sh*t. Almost every rapper talks about stupid sh!t

"YALL SAY BIGGIE BECAUSE YOU HEARD ONE SONG THAT YOU THINK IS THE sh*t OR TWO SONGS"

I've heard lots of songs by both artists, and I think they're both ill MCs. Both of them are top 5 material. While pac often (but not always) has better lyrical content, BIG is much better at flows and wordplay. Another reason somebody might like BIG better is that he was much less a contributer to the beef between them. 2pac was much more responsible their distaste for eachother than Biggie was.

This discussion is interesting thus far but rapp did not begin w/ the east coast/ west coast rappers....dj Run is a great mc....the content of what he rapped about wasn't as thought provoking as KRS ONE but in my opinion the greatest of all times takes into account the significants of the rapper, how well they sold during there time and after and last but not least how many bonafied hits they had..What do I mean by hits...If you are listening to the album you don't skip over the songs, Run DMC HAS MORE THAN 27 BY my last count....ask tu pac or biggie what they thought about that. Ice cube during his angry days was a great raper as well. j-z and eminem came during a different era...further more eminen sells are tainted b/c whites who wouldn't normally listen to rapp buy his music but don't buy other rappers music. Also any white person who enjoys rapp has atleast one Eminem album....they are the majority over here. Now the same can't be said for any black rapper...some would argue that everyone has a tu pac album...hmmmm must ponder on this....Lyrically speaking eminem is outstanding, j-z continually puts out hits and is masterful like ll in wooing us w/ thier glamarous life styles....big daddy kane was tight, dougie fresh and slick rick would have been the greatest duo had they kept going,...dana dane was a great imaginery, salt n peppa was tight too, heavy dee and the boys carried their weight....Rakim was really good too...

Yeah, your right. Rapp didn't start in America at all.

I think Ian Drury (a Brit with cerebral palsie) and his band The Blockheads were the first to do rapp.

Have a listen to "Reasons to be cheerful", "Clever Trevor", "Hit Me with your Rythm Stick" I think from the New Boots and Panties album, or maybe Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll - around 1975)

And he did it with a lot more humour, intelligence and great music than anyone since IMHO
