Why does the Catholic Church forbid suicide?
At the Church I was taught I've been sinful since my life began..
This created a sense of shame in my life, while I'm not allowed to kill myself in order to escape from the reality that I'm sinful.
It's not fair.

Christians (and not only Catholics) believe that it is God who gave them life by creating Adam and all human kind. Therefore he is the only subject who is entitled to decide about ending your life. You have freedom to choose the way you want to live your life but you have no right to cease your life before it is fulfilled.
By the way, Christians believe that every human is on Earth to prepare himself for the life after death and (what is maybe more important) to help other people and fill them with joy and love. If you commit a suicide, you only want to help yourself. Think of all those people who will become sad and troubled. I am sure noone will become happier after your suicide. So what is the reason?

well i don't know much about catholic, but i do think that suicide is not something that should be allowed ! whatever the religion is !and the fact that they teach that since life begin , one become sinful; isn't a good idea at all, because making sins is part of our nature, that doesn't mean it'ok to be sinful but we should prevent ourselves from that. and that is one thing among others which make some people respectful than others.

Suicide can't and will never be a solution to any problem, moreover it's a crime commited on oneself, because a person wasn't created to punish himself or take it away, that's a sign of losing faith.

Life cannot be fair or unfair. Life is just life... And you cannot know what is fair and unfair in it.

Dear Ruslana. As I understood Anon's message, he wasn't talking about the fairness of life but about the fairness of the Church's attitutude to suiciude. Anyway, I also do not know (and honestly, I do not want to know either) whether life is fair or not.

Dear Lawyee,

So we understood the message each in his own way.

Anyway, to be frank, I had no idea that you did not know and honestly did not want to know whether life was fair or not, and of course I am not trying to force you to find it out.
