Hi, my question is why is it 1,5 million dollars WAS spent and not WERE spent?

The amount is more important than the individual 1.5 million one-dollar bills/banknotes. In the same way: Two kilometres is enough. Five weeks was too much for me!


You can even use the indefinite article with a plural: He spent a happy five days in Monte Carlo.
