Following any religion is not necessary. What necessary is to think objectively.

If you think we have to erase religions from the world because of so many dirty things done in the name of religion.  It would be logically similar to think that we have to erase cars from the world because of so many lethally accidents and pollution caused by cars.

Dear Dew by all means hold to your beliefs or lack of them but on these forums we respect the beliefs of others and do not refer to them as fairy tales. A lack of respect and bigotry are what cause wars not religion. God bless and have a good day.

Thank everyone who took time and effort to answer my provocative post.
But if you try to look deeper in what you've written, you can understand that I became even more deeply sure of what I say. Why are all of you so strict about the people who don't support the religious points of view?
Did I say that I don't respect YOUR ways of life? No - I just said that I regard religious teachings as literature (a good one, but fantastic). What is bad if I want to be closer to te nature instead of the spiritual being whom nobody saw?
Still you want to makre me believe in what you think best.
Perhaps some even thought of beating me with stones for not sharing your beliefs.
David even thought it insulting that I used the word fairy-tale. Is it an obscenete word?
Fairy tales are respected in every country, but then people grow up and they want to listen to other fairy tales. Sometimes they invent them and this is the way the world goes round.

And I quite agree that "A lack of respect and bigotry are what cause wars", but I'd rather say lack of respect to the people who have different beliefs. And remember Kosovo. What was the cause of the mass killings?

God bless you! And I would believe in good future that is made not given.

Peace to everyone.

Dear Dew, nobody will be converting you. God loves atheists too. Maybe some day you will find Him by yourself.

By using the phrase "all of you" I am assuming that Dew was including me among the people who are so strict.  However, my asssumption still has a possibility to be wrong.

I am just wondering, did I explicitly say something that showed strictness to people who don't support religious points of view ? Big Smile [:D]

Kabayan, nothing against you personally. Nor is there anything against the believers, but the more religious people I meet, the more they try to persuade me that the God exists. Most of them try tosay, "Don't you see that He exists!" In fact I don't.

By the way, I am not an atheist - I believe in Good! (not God) I believe in Nature (not Creator), I believe in myself (not the Spirit who would decide what I am to do). I believe in Future that depends on the people who Make things not pray for them.
I can't understand what is bad in my beliefs... Yes, they don't coincide with the theological ideas. And that's all.
And the last - I don't want to find my god. I don't want to create it (nor create my own religion). I want Life on Earth to be better. I want to live in harmony with nature not with fairy-tales.
No offence meant

Dear Dew I really fail to see where anyone suggested converting you. Yes it is impolite to call beliefs fairy tales. Surely you can discuss without offending. We are happy to have you believe whatever. Perhaps it is a language problem and you mean no harm. Have a good day.

Can't the world become a better place in abscence of the religions ???

Please share your throughts. It's killing me.

in my humble opinion life without religion is like a body without spirit. The religion is our guide in life and i dont think that if we erase it so wi will have a better life. No, i think that every religion has his specific caracteristics and every one of us must have some directives to be active and fruitfull in his life. And those directives are simply given to us by religion.

Hey folks, I really wonder one thing. Why do humans want to see real things? Why do believing sipiritual things seem so hard to us or most of us? I mean, if God is so almighty and strong and can do everthing, why doesn't he show himself? What is the rule or logic behind this? What I have observed from the people who say they don't believe in God is that they want to be convinced strictly by real things. They want to see God. Science states that every human is born with the same IQ so what makes them think differently from us? Family? If it is family, why my uncle doesn't believe in God but his daughters and sons believe? Culture? Genetic? Environment? Or all of them?

Apart from these, what surprises me most is what Qur'an says about this. I will make a summary for you. It says when prophets tried to convince people that God exists, non-believers wanted prophets to convince the. One of the prophers turned a river into blood,  turned a stick into a snake, the other one seperated the moon in half and gave life to a dead body but still non-believers refused to believe in God. I couldn't find the Sura but I will try to translate it for you in Qur'an it says: " No matter what miracles they ( mean prophets) showed to them ( mean non-believers) they still refused to believe in God. They wanted to be shown real proofs but when showed, they refused. God knows what lies in them."  This clause really affects me I must say. Maybe everything is to do with intention. If you don't have any intention to believe, no matter what is shown as a proof to you, you will still not believe.

Another thing I observed from some of the non- believers is that they feel guilty. I don't mean to generalise but the people I know were believers at first then they stopped believing and they feel guilty now for this and though you don't say something directly for them, they misunderstand you. The big problem is that they cannot tell this truth to themselves either. If you ask them, they don't feel so but when you talk about something different, they think that you are critising them and start to defense themselves. Anyway, I wrote too much. Thanks for reading me. Smile [:)]
