wife/girlfriend...advance/further

Can I use either choice?

It's incorrect to say wife, since they would already be married.  Use girlfriend and further.

No, 'current' means 'present'. Hence you cannot marry your present wife. You can divorce (not marry) your wife.

You can remarry your ex-wife. Your cannot marry your current wife.because your current wife is your wife.
