If anyone is going to be his grandfather, it will be me.

Teachers,

In the above sentence, why should IF clause use <be going to>? Please would anyone explain it to me?

It seems you believe there is something wrong with "is going to".
It is correct.

'is going' means 'intends' or 'plans' in this sentence.  The lack of context makes it impossible to understand the exact meaning.  It could be in the context of deciding which roles are to be taken in a play.
