Hi.

Just wanted to confirm with someone ....

If you have decided to go on a trip to, say, Amsterdam but you haven't decided on an exact plan yet, you would say, "I'm going to go to Amsterdam."

Now, suppose your boss has given you a job order that you go on a business trip to Amsterdam but has not given you an exact date etc., and that you are having a conversation with a friend at a bar like the following:

A: You haven't been abroad recently, have you?

B: No, but (          ).

You would most likely say, "I'm going to go to Amsterdam, " among the choices below, wouldn't you?

1) I will go to Amsterdam.  2) I'm going to go to Amsterdam.  3) I'm going to Amsterdam.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hiro

All of your three choices are correct, although #1 is my least favorite.  #1 sounds more like a response to the question, "Where will you go?" #2 is my favorite choice of the three.

Here are some other possibilities.

"No, but I'm going to go to Amsterdam in the near future."

"...but I'll be going to Amsterdam soon."
"...but I'm planning a trip to Amsterdam."
